Big Walk 2008

Hi, how's everyone? Hope you guys are preparing well for the upcoming midterm.

The Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA) is organizing a big walk on 19th October, 2008 in conjunction with World Mental Health Day (10 October) to promote public awareness on mental health disorders.
The big walk would be held at the Dataran Timur PJ, opposite Amcorp Mall.

These are the details regarding this event:
Name: Big Walk 2008
Date: 19th October 2008
Time: 7.30am (But you will need to come earlier for registration)
Venue: Dataran Timur PJ (Opposite Amcorp Mall)
Fee: RM10 per adult (Free for children under 12)
Participation category: 4.5km
Entry closing date: 15th October 2008

World Mental Health Day '08

Dear all,

How are all of you and your preparation for the upcoming mid terms? I hope everybody is doing great.

Thanks for Coming....

Hey people,

Thank you for those who came to the meeting cum welcoming party. With four different varieties of domino pizza and a nice game of tossing questions to each member, hope all of you had your full and fun!

Anyway, the committee of CPIC is pleased to meet the old members after the short break from the previous semester and would like to once again welcome all new members that joined CPIC.

For those who did not attend the meeting cum welcoming party, here’s what we did: We had a short session on introducing the new committee members along with the new and old members of CPIC. We had also discussed about the expectations and suggestions that each members might have for CPIC’s future undertakings. Apart from that, we had also discussed about having our own club logo and perhaps our own club T-shirt.

Moving on from there, we had the game of tossing questions as mentioned above. The rule of the game is simple. When a member throws a question to another member, the member has to throw another question to someone else without answering the question. Any answering of question(s) or laughing would be considered disqualified.

Lastly, we ended the gathering with munching the four different varieties of domino pizzas and a quick photo shoot.

Well, we hope that more new members would join us (and also existing members) for our next event. So hear from us soon!!

AGM Outcome

Yo people!

Firstly, thank you for you all fellow members to attend the recent AGM. It has been great having all of you there. It really means a lot. Anyway, there has been a new committee elected to take over from the previous committee. So the below are the new people:

We have also discussed about the previous trip to Tanjung Rambutan and proposed future activities for the club. Hopefully, we could execute all proposed activities.

Lastly, thanks for coming again to the AGM! Please do help out if you can during the Club and Society's Day on 28th May.

super sorry for the late notice but as you all know b.psych isn't exactly the fastest department in terms of serving ppl and so until now i still havent receive a black and white in terms of the venue for our meeting tmrw.

however, gonna take a risk and were gonna use zimbardo lab tmrw at 12pm for our agm meeting.

i hope to see as many of you there, and i hope that many of you already have an idea on who you guys wanna nominate. for all those who are nominated tmrw i hope that you guys and girls would be able to think on the spot in terms of what you guys can offer for this club in order to lead this club in a way better manner then how i have lead this club. the positions that are up for grab are:

I would also like to apologize to everyone for the super long bus ride to tapah which ended up in disappoint where we couldn't play in the waterfall. I thank you guys for your understanding and sorry once again for all the inconvenience caused. I hope that you guys had a fun time at hospital bahagia.

Last Reminder/Information about Tanjung Rambutan Trip

Hey people!!

I hope your excited and anticipating the trip tomorrow. The following are the updates:

The below is itinerary for tomorrow:

7.30am - Check in at Lower Foyer, Main Block (latest would be 7.45am)
Breakfast would be provided along.
8.00am - Depart from HELP University College
11.00am - Arrived at Hospital Bahagia, Tanjung Rambutan and tour in the hospital.
1.00pm - Depart to waterfall at Tapah
2.00pm - Arrive at waterfall, Tapah and lunch (Ipoh Chicken Rice)
3.00pm - Games, relaxation at the waterfall.
6.00pm - Leave the waterfall and depart to KL.
9.00pm (latest) - Arrived at KL.

You may park your car at the main block parking area. The 'palang' will be left open. So no worries at all.

The necessary items that you need to bring along:

  1. Some money but not too much.
  2. Identification Card (IC)
  3. Extra Clothes (Very Important!!!)
  4. Towel
  5. Flip Flops and Shoes
  6. Camera (if you want to)
  7. Yourself

Please take care all your belongings. Any lost items are strictly not the responsibility of Clinical Psychology Interest Club and it's organizing team.

These are the DON'Ts in the hospital:

Do not

  1. Wear any indecent clothes (e.g. Any revealing body parts clothes)
  2. Wear any shorts. (Three quarter pants are also not allowed)
  3. Wear flip flops or sandals.
  4. Take photos
However at the waterfall, do wear whatever you are comfortable with and take as many photos you want to!!

Last but not least, please be punctual throughout the trip and have a good night rest tonight. You might be mistaken to be one of the patients in the hospital if you don't.

important

hi ppl,
for those who are going for the outing and did not receive my mail, i need your input in deciding what to do after the visit to hosp.bahagia.
earlier we have promised you guys that we will be going to hot spring but the hot spring is closed and so we need to find a different option.
here are the few options so do decide.
a) picnic in ipoh park (really nice, food will be provided by us)
b) have a nice lunch in ipoh town.
c) 1hour bus ride to lata kinjang which might caused bit more and we will be back around 8pm only in kl. lata kinjang is a nice waterfall supposely one of the highest in malaysia.
do let me know as soon as possible your choice, and once again im sorry. but do remember that the main purpose of this outing is to visit hosp.bahagia and that recreation is the secondary motive (nic, 2008)

club outing plans

hi hi,

well here is a glimpse of what the club outing would be like based on the planning of the committee members so far:

7.30 am -leave college for tangjung rambutan.

9am-stop and rest for breakfast.

11am-reach hospital bahagia, tour around hospital bahagia.

2pm-lunch at tambun hotspring.

3pm-games and relaxation at tambun hotspring. there is a sauna there too based on what i heard.

around 6pm-leave tambun.

by 9pm-thats the latest we would reach-reach back kl.

*as of right now the budget per person is around 30bucks inclusive of transportation, entrance fees to tambun hotspring (not to be mistaken of tambun lost world) and some light breakfast.
That is why i can't stress enough the importance of having SPONSORS which i really hope we can find one. So do let me know if you know of anyone that is willing to sponsor our trip. thanks.

hi all,
would like to inform you that tentatively as of now our club outing would be on april 11 (friday).
we would like to know how many of you would be interested so do email me or sms me if ur interested to join us for this outing on this date.
if the response is very few we would then most likely try to arrange a different day.
for those who do not know, we would be going to tanjung rambutan/hospital bahagia in ipoh and will then be having a picnic/ fun time at tambun waterfall.
we would most likely be leaving kl early in the morning and reach the latest by 9.30pm.
so once again if you all are interested do let me know.
i have allocated 20 seats for our club members and will be opening it to other help psychology students.
yeah in case ur wondering, yes we have to pay for the transportation there as our funds are not enough to cover up the whole trip.
will be having a meeting to discuss with those who are interested to go soon.

I'm so proud of our club for being able to pull off a wonderful and successful food sale.
Many thanks to Yuen and team for setting up the booth and preparing the food to sell. Many thanks to our other club members who came to help out even for a little while.
I really hope that this food sale would serve as an encouragement to other club members to be more active in this club.
Hopefully we will have enough profit to sponsor our club trip to hospital bahagia.
I hope that many of you would come for this outing and do invite your friends to join too.

updates

hey ppl,

here's the latest update concerning our club.

food sale-this coming tuesday, 4 march 2008 outside ae1 there (student lounge) from 10 to 2.
-anyone free on the day do come and help out.
- the whole food sale is being organized by yuen (our treasurer)
- we will be selling toast sandwiches, macaroni salad, snacks and soft/packet drinks.
-money from this food sale will be going to our club outing fund.

outing-so far we have a few dates in mind somewhere around march 21, april 4 or april 11.
-we will also be having a picnic after the outing at tambun there i think.
-the whole outing trip was planned by nic and edward.
-open only to help psychology students (priorities given to our club members first)

Food Sale and Outing

Hi everyone,

Despite the fact that our club party was not a success as what we imagined it to be, our club is still very much alive.

As of this moment our club has two activities line up which would be a food sale as well as an outing to a psychiartic ward in Perak.

Our food sale activity will be organized by Yuen and team, and among the food that would be sold would be sandwiches, macaroni salad, soft drinks and packet drinks. Hope that as many of you would show up on the day itself to support him, and if anyone is free do show up to help out.
The profits from this food sale will then be use for our outing trip.

The food sale will be done in March, and as for the trip hopefuly in March or late April after our finals.

I do hope that many of you would come and support our club. Once again if anyone is interested to join do let us know.

latest update on the party

hi everyone,

a big appology to everyone that attended our club meeting on 30.1.2008 as there were some techinal problems that couldnt be avoided which then had force us to cancel our meeting.

the good news is that we will still be having a party, hopefully we can have catter food to compensate the mistake today as well as fun and games.

our event will now be held on the 13.2.2008 at 12.30 to 1.30.
the venue will be informed to all of you soon, so in case you guys dont check ur emails i do hope that you guys will check our blog (clinicalclub.blogspot) for further updates regarding this event.

Happy New Year & Welcome to all new members

Hi everyone,

First of all would like to say a big thank you to all our club members who had volunteer their service during the club and society day.
Secondly would like to thank the whole newsletter committee for coming up with a wonderful first issue and hopefully that the issues to come would be equally or in fact better then the first.
And last but no least a big thank you and a big welcome to all our new club members.

As many of you have read in the newsletter, we will be having a club party at the end of this semester on a Wednesday most likely around 12.30 to 1.30 pm, so do invite your friends to come along too. The only catch however is that everyone is required to bring a little bit of food either junk food, sandwiches or even drinks to be shared among every member in the club. The reason for that is because we are kind of a poor club so we do not have the budget to throw a big and lavish party, however what we can promised is that our party would definitely be fun.

We will be playing games on the day of the party and so it will definitely be lots of fun, so i hope to see as many of you there.
